Paid parking (that you have) is also valid on Parkings with parking numbers written below (you will recive fresh print-screen of a parking ticket and the numbers of parkings to park for free 😉, when I pay for it).
Numbers you see below are all parking spots (numbers) around Kranjska Gora which are FREE for you.
This information is dated from 10.9.2026. I will send you an updated copy when I buy you a parking ticket.
Always check the parking sign yourself to make sure that parking is allowed for you. Parking rules can change, signs can be updated, and of course, I can make a mistake too. 🙂
Please scroll down for (more) important info!
IMPORTANT :
Once I arrange your parking permit online, you can park FREE OF CHARGE in many places around Rateče, Kranjska Gora and Mojstrana — but you need to make sure that you choose the right parking areas.
To make things easier, I have already collected the suitable parking locations for you
on this map: CLICK HERE.
For a better understanding of how the parking system works, please continue reading below.
The parking sign first shows the general parking rules — when parking fees apply and how much parking costs.
At the bottom of the sign, look for the following text:
“Izjema imetniki abonmajev A, B, C, D.”
Translation:
“Except holders of parking permits A, B, C and D.”
Your parking permit is C, which means that the general parking fee shown on the sign does NOT apply to you.
So, if you see C included among the exceptions, you have found a parking area where you can park free of charge with your permit.
Important: If the parking sign does not include permit C in the exceptions, then your permit does not apply there and you will need to pay for parking like everyone else.
EXAMPLE (of usual sign):
On the picture (to the right or below), you can see the parking sign that applies to this parking area.
The important part for you is the line:
“Izjema imetniki abonmajev A, B, C, D.”
Translation: “EXCEPT HOLDERS OF PARKING PERMITS A, B, C AND D.”
Since you have a C parking permit, the parking fee shown on the sign does not apply to you.
So yes — you can park here free of charge.
EXAMPLE (of 2 hours sign):
On the picture (to the right or below), you can see a parking sign that allows you to park for free because it includes the following exception:
“Izjema imetniki abonmajev A, B, C, D.”
Translation: “Except holders of parking permits A, B, C and D.”
Since you have a C parking permit, you can park here free of charge.
However, the sign also says:
“DO 2 URI S PARKIRNO URO.”
Translation: “Up to 2 hours with a parking clock.”
So there are two important things to remember: parking is free for you, but only for up to 2 hours, and you must show your arrival time.
Place a parking clock on the dashboard and set it to the time when you parked. If you don’t have a parking clock, you can simply write your arrival time on a piece of paper and place it visibly behind the windscreen.
If you want to stay longer than 2 hours, do not simply change the time on the parking clock while leaving the car in the same spot. Move the car to another parking space and then set the new arrival time.
Why? Parking control may take a photo of your car and later check whether it is still standing in exactly the same place — even if the time on the parking clock has changed. 😉
EXAMPLE (of parking with limited hours)
Sorry, I don’t have a photo of this parking sign.
You can find this parking area here: CLICK HERE TO OPEN IN GOOGLE MAPS
With your C parking permit, you can park here for free during the following times:
Monday–Friday: from 20:00 to 08:00
Saturday & Sunday: all day
The sign says:
“Dovoljeno parkiranje z abonmaji A, B, D; C: PON. – PET. med 20:00 in 8:00, SOB. in NED. med 0:00 in 24:00.”
Translation:
“Parking allowed for holders of permits A, B and D. Holders of permit C may park here Monday–Friday between 20:00 and 08:00, and Saturday and Sunday between 00:00 and 24:00.”
So, during the week this is mainly a night-time parking option, while at weekends you can park here free of charge all day.
Good to know about (FREE) parking spots:
The walk is actually quite pleasant, as it takes you past the restaurants and cafés located near the ski slopes.
It is a little farther away than the paid parking area you will see immediately when driving past the lake, but believe me — there is really no need to pay for parking here. 😉 Park at the free parking area and enjoy a very short walk of only about 3 minutes to the lake.
OFFICIAL PARKING WEBSITE
Before visiting the official parking website, I should warn you that it can be a little tricky to navigate — especially on a mobile phone. 😉
By now, you already know the most important details and where the free parking areas are, so if I were you, I wouldn’t spend too much time researching it further.
However, if you’re curious and would like to understand the parking system in more detail, I’ve prepared a short video guide showing you how to use the website and how to check where free parking is available.
You can watch my video HERE (click).
After watching the video, you’ll be ready to visit the OFFICIAL PARKING WEBSITE (click) and explore the parking options yourself.
At this point, you could almost call yourself an expert on parking in Kranjska Gora. 😉
I can´t take responsibility for your parking. But I can always help. 😉 If you are not sure, write me or call me.
