Life Skills- Self Regulation
Through health class, counselors at MHS teach the mental, behavioral, physical and emotional signs of stress that can cause depression and anxiety to linger and become deep issues in school and everyday life. We also give examples of how a teen can combat and overcome these signs and also see those signs in their peers and how to acknowledge signs, show they care and make sure to tell an adult if the implications are or seem severe.
Inner Monsters- Diving into "dark" thoughts and having no one around to clear your conscience of them.
No Self Regulation Skills- Students don't have skills to take a moment before they react to a tough situation at hand.
Chemical Imbalance- Could be based on lower levels of serotonin (the brain chemical responsible for mood and behavior).
Pessimistic Thinking- A pattern that is sewn into a minor’s brain wave that is constantly criticizing themselves.
