Prof. Akira Aoki

Akira Aoki, DDS, PhD is a scholar specializing in periodontology and photoperiodontics, teaching at the Department of Periodontology at Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU). He obtained his DDS in 1989 and PhD in 1996 from the same university. His career focuses on the clinical application and research of laser dentistry, and he actively participates in international laser dentistry conferences, often presenting and receiving awards.

Professor Aoki is the current president of the World Federation for Laser Dentistry (WFLD) and a member of its Asia Pacific Division. He has been working at TMDU since 1991 and has attended almost all ISLD and subsequent WFLD conferences since the third one. Under his leadership, WFLD promotes scientific research, clinical application, and education in laser dentistry, as well as the global development and application of the field.

The WFLD, a non-profit organization founded in 1988, originally named the International Society for Laser Dentistry (ISLD). Since its inception, it has been the most authoritative and influential organization in the field of international laser dentistry, regularly organizing international conferences to promote the development and application of laser dentistry technology.
