this page will discuss questions raised by the Global Peace Index Report 2017
One measure of how peaceful the world is in a given year is the Global Peace Index (GPI) published annually for the last 10 years by the Institute for Economics and Peace. The GPI 2017 is a comprehensive 140-page document which can be downloaded free of charge from the organisation's website. It seems an ideal tool on which to base change at all levels to create a more peaceful world.
In summary, the GPI takes 23 measures of peace previously developed by an international team and assesses these annually for some 163 countries. The measures are combined to give a each country a peace ranking. The measures and methodology are fully explained, and the results interpreted.
