I am a historian of the nineteenth and twentieth century, focusing on medical, urban, and political history. At Tübingen University, I am currently working on a project that seeks to unearth the history of ambulances as key urban infrastructure in Buenos Aires, Philadelphia, and Berlin.
Before starting this project, I earned a PhD at Erfurt University were I focused on conservatives' identity-based politics between 1980 and 2000. Following three actors–Beverly LaHaye, William Bennett, and David Blankenhorn–I explore how conservatives built identities for themselves while talking about sexuality, race, and gender. I am currently revising the dissertation manuscript for publication.
Other research interests include women's and gender history and histories of prison activism. You can find more details about my research here and my teaching here.
