Cardiac arrest is when a person suffers from a sudden irregular heartbeat usually caused by an issue in the heart's electrical system. This prevents the heart from being able to pump blood throughout the body. If not immediately treated cardiac arrest could result in death.
Some factors such as being middle aged, obese, high blood pressure/cholesterol levels, diabetes, or a family history can increase your chance of going in cardiac arrest but ANYONE no matter how healthy or young they are could potentially go into cardiac arrest.
No a heart attack is a blockage in the arteries that prevents blood flow where as cardiac arrest is caused by an issue with the electrical system. Heart attacks can be caused by cardiac arrest but they are not the same thing.
