Not sure if this is the right forum but I try here anyway.

A friend of mine is bed ridden since many months and is not able to play his beloved game on his PC. He could start it up there but would have to go back to his bed where he can only use his laptop which is not really suitable spec wise to fully play the game. However he could do less demanding things which would keep him entertained for hours, something he so desperately needs I feel.

Now, is using something like anydesk allowed to play the game via laptop in a room next to his PC room and is it even possible if the laptop itself could not really be used to fully play the game in all its glory.

Any info on both questions would be greatly appreciated.

Have a nice weekend

How can you control your PC and play PC games remotely? This is possible with the help of remote PC gaming software, which allows a gamer to play games not supported or available on their physical device through a remote connection to a gaming server.

If the device you'll use to play games remotely is on the same network as the PC, you can use Stream Link to play PC games remotely over WiFi. Steam Link is a popular remote game streaming software that is free to download and install on your computer or mobile device, allowing you to play games from the Steam Store easily.

Additionally, from ADVANCEDCLIENT OPTIONS, you can customize the speakers, enable hardware decoding, set a bandwidth or resolution limit, and display performance data. (These options can later be modified in the Steam Link app as well.)

You may use Moonlight to stream your PC game library to any compatible device and play them remotely. Moonlight lets you play PC games on nearly any device, whether it's in another room or thousands of miles distant from your gaming setup.

AnyViewer is the remote desktop gaming software that allows you to remotely control your PC and play games on another PC, an iPhone, an iPad, or an Android device. This remote desktop program provides anonymity, support for the majority of OS systems, quick file conversion, and excellent frame rates.

An ANYDESK file is a recording of a remote desktop session conducted using AnyDesk, a remote desktop application. It shows the contents of the user's screen during their AnyDesk session. ANYDESK files can be played only in AnyDesk Session Player.

You can play an ANYDESK file in AnyDesk's Session Player. To do so, either double-click the file on a device that has AnyDesk installed, or select the file from the Session History icon that appears in AnyDesk's top-right corner.

Teamviewer does not work for game programs. I'm not expecting to play the game at high frame rates, but only to be able to log in on another machine on my lan to fix something in a game on another system on my LAN.

The display works fine. The problem is the mouse and keyboard. The mouse is uncontrollable. The camera spins and it is impossible to direct the character to move. Using WASD keys to move the character cause jerky movments.

To test this, simply use any free PC game such as Wow Starter and connect between two machines on a LAN using Teamviewer. You will see that it is impossible to control the character. Again, I am not expecting good performance, but only acceptable control of the game to change a setting or to be able to help someone who is playing and is confused.

To be completely honest, the software is not designed for this purpose. It is designed for business use and then offered to free users to assist their friends and family. I have used the software for keeping up with activities in game, but full play is pretty much not possible as it is not remote gaming software.

Anyway, back to my other question. I have tried a local TV connection on my LAN and find that TV does short circuit the screen traffic to the LAN. My test was to play a YOUTUBE video on the remote machine and watch the traffic to the WAN as seen by the router from both the remote and the client machines. What I saw was the "remote" machine doing incoming youtube traffic as expected, but no traffic as seen by the router between the two machines. The router saw essentially no traffic from the TV client machine, only the remote machine that was watching the video directly. So I was pleased to see that TV has short circuited the TV traffic to the LAN as hoped.

Has there been any sort of movement on this? I use it when i have downtime at work to play things like Civ V which is awesome. But like you said anything that requires ANY sort of continous key press is unplayable. It would be great to see this fixed.

I'm not asking for a remote acces to CoD or something like that. Just a few games that are FP camera view and in need of a smooth movements.

Like playing PC Building Simulator is impossible, because you need your mouse to control the camera. But you can walk correctly x)

I was trying to play a game remotely off my computer at home and when I try to move the character the mouse moves but the character doesn't, also the wasd keys don't work either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If for example, by controlling the NUC remotely from another device, I minimize a window, on the monitor connected to the NUC happens in real time, instead in the display of the remote device (I'm doing the tests at home) I see that the action also takes place after a few seconds.

My son was playing on a popular Minecraft server when someone accused him of cheating. He was asked by an admin to allow remote access to his machine via Anydesk to prove himself and was then banned from the serve for some infraction or other.

Best way to prove innocence is to look at ".minecraft" file to look for any stuff, that cheat client changed etc. Thats why anydesk is used, to look at that .minecraft file. If nothing out of ordinary is found, they unban that player. That one player can always watch what they are doing, they can stop it anytime.

Just a note, this is just if player does not agree with a ban, not to every ban that someone had issued, and with that big amount of players cheating, it's impossible to not give ban for cheating by mistake.

It is true that cheating ruins the experience for multiplayer gaming, but whether the gaming server host likes it or not, they have no business going into someone else's computer and potentially risking leaking sensitive information.

But for bans to be fair proof is needed, unfortunately Minecraft is not one of those games that keeps a video log of gameplay from start to finish of each session or every time a world is logged into and out again, I wished it were because then things like cheating or griefing could be proven without a doubt, without a livestream or having to bother with third party capturing apps, but then keeping video logs would take up too much space if it were to be added, such a feature should be optional. I would like this to happen so server admins have better control over what is going on.

This practice of some admins using anydesk to remote into a machine to check for cheating software is just plain dangerous. Its potentially worse than an invasion of privacy. If someone has remote access to your machine, even while you are watching, there is nothing stopping them from installing whatever they want. One could install something with an innocent name like 'Minecraft cheat checker' and the child watching thinks that its all normal but that software could have additional payloads such as keyloggers, viruses, webcam spy software and so on.

I am sure that the vast majority of admins are acting perfectly innocently when they use anydesk. However, it normalises what is an exceedingly dangerous practice. Indeed my son insisted, 'This is normal. Its what happens on Minecraft'. From a child safety point of view, I was horrified! ff782bc1db
