I serve as the Faculty of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. I have been awarded the International Economic Research Annual (IERA) Award 2013 by the Export-Import (EXIM) Bank of India for the best PhD dissertation in International Economics by any Indian (doing Phd in India or abroad).
In administrative capacity, I have served as the coordinator of the Economics programme (BS-MS and PhD) within the department since January 2023- January 2026. In addition, I am involved in student welfare. I hold the position of Assistant Warden at the Savitri Bai Phule Hall of Residence-I at IIT Kharagpur.
I was selected to represent IIT Kharagpur at the Second Edition of the Women Leading IITs Program organized by IIT Madras (WLI) in collaboration with McKinsey & Company, and GLOW (Growing Leadership for Women).
I aim to make significant impacts in research, education, and administration, which aligns well with the multifaceted nature of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur and be part of the noble initiative of "Vikshit Bharat".
Gardening and listening to music rejuvenate me. Besides, I am a trained Bharatnatyam dancer.

My research interest focuses on the contemporary issues in International Trade and Development Economics. My interest on the impact of globalization on developing countries touches on critical issues that many nations are grappling with. I did my PhD from Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
Post-PhD my research portfolio is comprehensive, covering several crucial aspects of international trade and development economics as highlighted below:
Digitalization, trade and employment;
Service Trade;
Gender Aspects of Trade Liberalization, Financial Inclusion and Entrepreneurship;
Global Value Chains (GVCs);
Trade and Environment,
Virtual trade & impact of AI on trade.
I have successfully completed research projects and consultancies by reputed national and international funding agencies.
Five of my research students have received best paper awards in International Conferences at various places in India and abroad. Two of my MTP students received the best dissertation award.
I have taught a variety of courses. I love to develop new courses. Here are the courses I have taught and some of them I have developed (like Advanced Microeconomics, Principles of Economics, International Economics, Theory of Industrial Organization, Petroleum Economics & Management are some of them):
Microeconomics I and II, International Trade, Statistics for Economics, and Labour Economics. I have also developed and offered the following courses: Advanced Microeconomics for MS Economics, Principles of Economics (for first year) and International Economics-I (for fourth year) in BS Economics. For B.Tech students of IIT Kharagpur I have offered the course International Business (at IIT Kharagpur), Petroleum Economics & Management.
In addition, I taught the course Economics in B.Tech at the Indian Institute of Petroleum & Energy, Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh during Fall 2018, Fall 2021, Spring 2020, Spring 2021. In the Masters in Human Resource & Management Programme offered by the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences, I have taught the course Business Environment & Policy.
Last but not the least, I have designed two NPTEL courses: first one named Petroleum Economics and Management was developed in 2023 and is successfully re-run in 2024, 2025 and 2026. The second one “Theory and Practice: International Trade in the Contemporary World” is developed in 2026. National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is an initiative for offering online courses under the SWAYAM linked NPTEL Online Certification programme of Ministry of Education, Government of India. The objective is to provide quality education to anyone interested in learning from the IITs. I feel blessed that I am part of this great initiative of Government of India by imparting knowledge and make my little contribution in the process of "Atmanirbhar Bharat".
