Pom's Space is the domain where I showcase my photographs. Like other popular art forms such as music, dance, painting, etc., photography is also a form of art and needs proper training to learn. This art form also requires great dedication and practice to excel. Unfortunately, nowadays, after the proliferation of mobile camera technology, almost every one of our generation who has a mobile phone with a camera started thinking of themselves as photographers. Some of them are even more reckless on the same. Although I have no complaints about mobile camera photography, I feel many of them have a severe lack of knowledge and training. Maybe a proper camera is not everything for photography, but training is always essential.
I started learning photography quite a long time back, during my undergraduate days in 2010 at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. I got my basic training in photography after joining the photography club of our university, which is known as Jadavpur University Photographic Club (JUPC). JUPC is one of the oldest student-run photographic clubs in Asia. I feel the best part of the training was using an analogue SLR camera (film) initially, which essentially improved my technical knowledge of the camera and photography. The limitation of having multiple shots with a film camera, one film roll comes only with a certain number of frames, so there is no luxury of having numerous attempts, helped me to develop an aesthetic sense quickly. Anyway, still, I think I haven't learned enough, need more time and lessons to be a better photographer.
Primarily I do landscape photography, where I prefer to capture the beauty of nature. But I also try to photograph the various objects and people with their actions on the city streets.
Nowadays, I am using one Nikon D5300 camera and two lenses: one Nikon 35mm prime lens and one Tokina 11-20mm wide-angle lens.
Recently, I got a Minolta XD with MD Rokkor 28mm lens. I hope to start enjoying that soon!
