                           RESEARCH INTEREST

My primary area of interest is to unravel the tectonic history of a terrane through modelling of metamorphic rocks. I wish to apply these techniques to a well-known granulite terrane, the Eastern Ghats Province of India, a region that is believed to have evolved as a consequence of Neoproterozoic collision between India and Antarctica. The metamorphic evolution of the southern part of this terrane has been worked on significantly in the past, but the tectonic interpretation is most robust when structural information is integrated with the results of metamorphism and geochronology. The structural evolution of the northern part of the Eastern Ghats Province is reasonably well constrained, and while the metamorphic evolution is only sketchily known. I wish to shed some light on this aspect, by integrating the metamorphic history with geochronology and the documented structural history of the terrane, to understand exactly how this area was amalgamated with the Archean Indian craton to its north, i.e. the Rengali Province.
