Antony Thomas

I obtained a Dual Degree (B.Tech & M.Tech) in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India, in 2014. Thereafter, in 2017, I received an M.Sc. degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, Israel. During this period, my research primarily focused on robot motion planning under uncertainty in perceptually aliased environments, marking a shift to robotics. Following this, I pursued a Ph.D. in Robotics and Autonomous Systems at the University of Genova, Italy, which I completed in 2021 under the guidance of Prof. Marco Baglietto and Prof. Fulvio Mastrogiovanni. I then continued at the University of Genova as a Postdoctoral researcher with Prof. Fulvio Mastrogiovanni. From February 2023 to December 2024, I served as a Fixed-term Researcher (RTD-A) at the University of Genova.

I am currently working as an Assistant Professor with the Robotics Research Center (RRC), International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad, India.

My research interest include robot motion planning, motion planning infeasibility (including minimum constraint removal and minimum constraint displacement planning), collision avoidance planning, planning under uncertainty, integrated task and motion planning.
