Thank you for visiting my website! Some words about my recent work and interests.
As from September 2023, I am working as an independent Researcher in the field of Behavioural Economics. I am currently collaborating with the University of Crete and the Agricultural University of Athens at a regular base as an external collaborator supporting different Horizon Europe Programs (SkillResilience4EU, STELLA) and occasionally as an external evaluator of Horizon Europe Project Proposals coordinated by EC agencies.
I also collaborate with the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics in the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) on the project "Social and Intergenerational Network Interventions for the promotion of traditional Cretan-Mediterranean healthy life-styles and dietary habits to improve public health outcomes".
During my work in the Joint Research Centre (JRC), European Commission as a scientific officer (2012-2021), I have designed, developed and performed several laboratory and field experiments applying behavioural insights to different areas of policy interest: Tax Compliance, Physical Activity and Obesity, Social Incentives, Sustainable Transportation, Decentralization, Alcohol Consumption and Risk Attitude, Cheating Behaviour, Financial Switching, Vaccination Hesitancy, etc. Based on my published study on “Social Network Interventions” (Proestakis et al. 2018), I (together with other colleagues from JRC) have developed the BikePrints mobile app and run already in 40 European cities, the Social Biking Challenge, a network intervention for increasing bike use in Europe.
I hold a BA in economics sciences from University of Athens, Greece and a PhD in Behavioural Economics from Universidad de Granada, Spain. For more details, see my CV.
