For several weeks I worked on my liquid syllabus, adding to it many elements that showcased me as a person. I made it accessible, personal, and fun to show my students that I am more than an educator.
We began by changing our course card to something more personal and welcoming. I chose a picture of a young female astronomer against a background of stars to encourage all people to pursue STEM.
I worked hard to get my homepage just right for my Canvas sites, including things that would make it easier for my students to connect with me on a more personal level.
I added a "Getting to Know You" survey to my Canvas Sandbox so that I can begin all of my classes with a personal connection to each and every one of my students.
I made my first icebreaker video on Flip so that my students and I could better connect with one another.
I learned how to make a Bumper Video to help introduce students to a new topic in an open, non-threatening manner.
I created a microlecture to help my students with a challenging topic.
