One statistic that really shocked me is that social media usage varies significantly by age group, but at the same time, there's not gap where people is avoiding it, it makes it look like we jumping from one to another according to what they're providing us, as users. I chose it because it relates to me becuase, even when I thought I was avoiding for example twitter, and I could manage my way of light usage, then of course I found tiktok and youtube, and society with shows and social media, are making it a little harder to not to use them.
In my opinion has had both positive and negative effects for society. On the positive side, of course, it allows people to communicate instantly, to have open knowledge to chose what they want to believe and to see real events with no lies in between, we can share information, and of course learn something new every 5 minutes if we want. As a student right now, I can realize that something it's more a distraction and influence I wish I can always have more control of it. However, social media can contribute with wrong information, privacy concerns and excessive use that kids, adults and people in general don't need. Overall I do believe it is a great resource when it is used responsibly, aware of the dangers it has for everybody.
From this project and topic, I got very enthusiastic, feeling proud of myself by feeling that I'm not using my phone as much as I used to. I've came with the knowledge that finding credible sources is a day to day job when new about politics, education and social media can twist what they want us to believe. Citing, giving credits and reading with detail will let me understand more clearly what I'm eager to learn.
