Social Media's Impact on Society
To me social media today is the biggest distraction there is. Social media in designed to be addictive even the color of the light coming off the screen is addictive. Social media shows you people at their best and tends to make people envious and jealous of others. Social media is so influential that even the government had to step in a shut some social media platforms down but all that happens is the company is sold or the app renamed and its back out to the public. Social media has grown into a problem so deeply engrained into human culture that it is almost impossible to separate us from it.
In this lesson I learned I am reliant on social media. I learned how many people my age use social media. I learned YouTube is the most used platform. I realized how much I dislike social medias hold on the world.
A vast majority of adults under the age of 65 say they use YouTube. Fully 95% of those 18 to 29 say they use the platform, along with 91% of those 30 to 49 and 83% of adults 50 to 64.
95% of people in my age group use YouTube. I use YouTube almost everyday. my family switched from cable to just internet years ago and we you YouTube as entertainment.
