I have been making musical instrument since I was at school in the early 1980's. Although the early guitars don't even make it as wall hangings any more. Always on the hunt for something different, I stumbled from guitar to banjo to lutes and Ouds. This then led down the ancient instrument path. I was always drawn to drone music. After trying my hand and lungs at bagpipes, I figured that I should stick to strings. So onto the hurdy gurdy merry-go-round I went. I built my first hurdy gurdy in the early 2000's and played this in a medieval band for some years. The lute also took my fancy so adapting an Oud to take a wider more "Renaissance" neck got me into that scene. The resonator guitars have a presence both visually and in their resonant tones. So I embarked on designing and constructing a steel bodied National style resonator guitar in 2013. I continue along the Lutherie route to this day.
