On the "North Lake Como", in clear weather, two breezes blow regularly: Bréva and Tivàn (Breva and Tivano in common italian).
This two winds normally are meek and sunny and they take turns on the lake during the day.

TIVANO
Tivano is an early morning wind which, at sunrise, leaves Valtellina valley at the end of the lake ed gently touch its surface with its double personality: soft and light wind perfect to learn sailing during the sunny days, strong and dangerous in case of stormy weather. Ancient popular belief sais that after summer's storms, the black sky is due to the cloaks of witches and Tivano is mighty breath of Aeolus, the lord of all winds, that drive the evil away.

After bad weather the sky giving back its cobalt blue which, in contrast with the emerald green of the forests washed by the rain and the color of the granite of the "Rhaetian Alps" which like a backdrop close the lake to the north stage one of the best shows in the world.

BREVA
In good weather, in the late morning, Tivano is contrasted from Breva a wind that raise during the day and gain more and more strength during the afternoon. This is the the most iconic wind on the lake and represents happiness for the sailing enthusiasts; the engine of the Breva is the sun which warms the fresh air of the lake, causing it to rise and creating space for the air that comes from the plain throught Lecco branch.

It is a spectacle to see crowds of sailers and surfers scanning, around noon, hopeful, the lake to the south waiting to see that a more blue line on the surface of the water, which represents the front of wind advancing.
