Ragging or harassment constitutes acts that violates or is intends to violate an individual's dignity. Countless innocent lives and careers have been ruined due to these. Honorable Supreme Court of India strictly prohibits ragging or harassment in any form in the campuses. Therefore, as per the guidelines of UGC an Anti-ragging and Anti-harassment Cell has been established by the Vidyasagar Evening College to provide safe and congenial environment to its students. The institute maintains a zero tolerance policy towards ragging or harassment in any form.

The cell ensures prevention, prohibition and timely redressal of any incidence of ragging or harassment a student may face. All the issues in this regard are dealt with utmost urgency and stringent actions are taken against those involved. The committee members look into complaints and provide counseling service to students wherever necessitated and ensure that our students acquire personality traits that empower them and refrain them from questionable codes of conduct. The cell works in a democratic as well as concerted manner to support students.



When to file complaint?


Ragging and harassment constitutes one or more of any of the following unwelcome acts:


  • Any conduct by any student or students which intends to tease or treat with rudeness.


  • Rowdy or undisciplined activities which cause or is likely to cause harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof.


  • Asking for any act which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or torment or embarrassment .


  • Any act by a student that prevents or disrupts the regular academic activity of any other student.


  • Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a student by other students.


  • Any act of physical, verbal or non-verbal abuse including sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, forcing obscene and lewd acts or gestures like showing pornography.


  • Any act or abuse by emails, SMS, watsapp or any other form of electronic media which causes discomfiture to any student.

How to file Complaint?


  • Any incidence of ragging or harassment of any form may be conveyed either over the Telephone or by e-mail or SMS.


  • Complaint may also be filed in writing to Committee members.


  • Complaint should be lodged timely for an effective action.
