ANNOUNCEMENT FROM ANTHROPOLOGY TODAY

STATEMENT ON PROFESSOR KATHLEEN LOWREY’S

‘ANTHROPOLOGY’S THREE ONTOLOGICAL TURNS’

25.5.2022

We are pleased to announce that on 19 May, in the interest of open debate and after consultation with the editorial board, ANTHROPOLOGY TODAY (AT) wrote to Professor Lowrey, offering to reverse the original advice to submit elsewhere and, instead, publish her revised paper in AT alongside a critical response. She also has been given the right to reply.

On this occasion, after consultation with and the approval of the Editorial Board, the editor determined that any differences in interpretation are best aired in the most public and democratic way possible and best achieved by proceeding in the manner now agreed upon between the journal, author and critical respondent.

Professor Lowrey and the critical respondent have both accepted this offer. The exchange will be published in the October issue, allowing both contributors time to finalize their text.
