My name is Anthony Forsyth and I am a senior at Anoka Highschool. As a student here I am enrolled in the Steam program and I would like to show you what my four years of work has lead me to. So I present to you the Lawnmower Conversion Kit.
My first step was definitely finding the parts to make this come true. So I first started off with getting my old lawnmower from my cabin then removing the old engine to replace it with my trolling motor.
The trolling motor unfortunately didn't work with my configuration but I was however able to use the switch from the trolling motor that was on the handle. And then I settled for an old treadmill motor that was laying around in the makerspace.
This is what my final prototype came out to be.
From my review night I gained the idea to make a kit instead of finding scrap parts for your electric lawnmower which was my original idea. My first porotype looked a lot like the picture above just more messy. My second prototype looked quite similar but cleaned up and actually running and working. So what my final project came out to was an old lawnmower with the engine stripped off that was replaced with a treadmill motor hooked up to a trolling motor switch that was powered by an ATV battery.
