An Anthology of the World's End

An Anthology of the World's End is just like it sounds: an anthology project (a collection of short stories, poems, art, photography, and even film) in which each entry relates to climate change.

I'm doing this project as apart of the independent study program at my school, in which I am studying Environmental Science, along with apart of my Girl Scout Gold Award.

I will be self publishing this book through Amazon with the intention of making science, particularly knowledge about climate change, more accessible to the average person who doesn't have an upper-level Science education. It will be completed and published by May 2022.

Any and all profits made from self-publishing this book via Amazon will be donated to non-profit organizations that pertain to the environment.

The issue my project will address is the knowledge gap from scientists to the general public when it comes to climate change. I've noticed that current and easily understandable information about climate change often doesn't get communicated to the general public; climate change is a large and complex topic with many aspects, but most people only know general details about global warming. I aim to bring more awareness to topics such as ocean acidification and sea level rise as well.

The issue likely stems from scientists publishing their work in the form of theses and dissertations that are inaccessible and incomprehensible to anyone without an upper level science education. This evidently creates an issue, as the general public are the people who can take the most action to combat climate change; it's an important issue because climate change efforts have to be a group effort, but that's impossible if only select people know a great deal of information about climate change.
