Academic iNtegrity Team (ANT) is a research group at the Faculty of Business and Economics, Mendel University in Brno, Czechia with a passion for quality education, training and academic integrity. Our mission is to share best practices and strive for integrity, transparency and accountability in higher education.
Mendel University in Brno (MENDELU) developed its own learning management system which was integrated within the University Information System (UIS) and it has been successfully used already for many years in many courses at the whole university.
MENDELU also developed a plagiarism detection system, Anton, which was launched as a part of UIS in 2009. Within European project „Impact of Policies for Plagiarism in Higher Education across Europe” the system Anton was further developed for HEIs in Lithuania. The Anton was used until 2014 when Mendel University in Brno joined a national system Theses.cz. Now it is used just for research purposes.
In 2010-2013 MENDELU was a partner of LLP/Erasmus project "Impact of Policies for Plagiarism in Higher Education across Europe" (IPPHEAE). The core idea of the project was to map situation of plagiarism at HEIs in whole Europe, and to discover attitudes to plagiarism and academic integrity issues of students, teachers and HEIs management. In 2013 MENDELU organized final conference of the project “Plagiarism across Europe and beyond” with 50 international participants. Because of its success the conference was organized again in 2015 and 2017 with growing number of international participants, since 2018 the conference has taken place out of Czech Republic with MENDELU as co-organiser. See http://academicintegrity.eu/conference for details. In 2016-2017 MENDELU lead a project “South East European Project on Policies for Academic Integrity” (SEEPPAI, www.plagiarism.cz/seeppai), and in 2018-2019 project “Project on Academic Integrity in Caucasus, Kazakhstan and Turkey” (PAICKT, www.plagiarism.cz/paickt) both following the IPPHEAE with the same objective but in the given regions. In period 2016-2019 MENDELU is the leader on Erasmus+ KA2 project “European Network for Academic Integrity” with 11 partners, the core idea is to build a solid base of educational sources abut academic integrity. In 2017 MENDELU was one of founding partners of an association “European Network for Academic Integrity” (ENAI) building above the project. The ENAI currently has 27 members (HEIs) and 12 active working groups (www.academicintegrity.eu).
