The change we NEED. The voice we DESERVE.
I would like to start by thanking you for taking time out of your day to visit my website! Let me introduce myself. My name is Ansley Eleazer, Grand-daughter of former Mayor Joe H. Daugherty and Connie Daugherty. I have decided to throw my hat in the ring for a seat on our city council.
I have lived here in Burns, right off of Johnson Street all 24 years of my life. I have a beautiful little family of my own now and I want my kids to love this place as much as I did growing up, and as much as I do now. I am a small business owner, and I am currently pursuing an education and soon a career in the medical field. On top of all that I’m an animal lover, I have a dog, and several chickens as well. Much like my love for helping humans, I love helping animals in need. I have a caring heart and our town needs more care and love in it.
At the age of 16 I began to get involved in our town and its politics. I started out trying to help our town by hosting an event at the Randy Tidwell Gymnasium. It was called The Burns Winter Village, and I have hosted several more events since then with each event getting bigger and better. I felt and still feel that our town needs more family friendly events and activities. I also started going to council meetings at the age of 16, and learning more and more about our town. I have been thinking about running for this position ever since.
I want Burns to stay Burns. I want to preserve our small town while also modernizing it a little. We NEED to slow down the urbanization, and focus more on stabilizing the residents and families that live here now. We need more for our children, and we also need to support the elderly, not run them off.
This is just a brief run through about myself and my thoughts. Feel free to contact me and we can discuss things further. I would also love to hear other citizens ideas and opinions.
Just a few of the things I want to focus on.
I believe we need to do an inventory check, as well as a financial check to make sure everything is where it needs to be.
Not only do we need more things for families; we need to step up our game in activities for the youth.
Lets face it some of our roads haven't been updated since the '80's, our gym is not up to codes, and our 4-ways don't work.
They are trying to turn our small home town community into a place full of urban living and small houses inches apart. I'm getting claustrophobic, how about you?
