The Anthropological Survey of India, Andaman and Nicobar Regional Centre, Port Blair initiated a ‘Research Club’ for in-house research personnel with an aim to promote, discuss and share the scientific research work among each other. This initiative was taken up under the supervision of Dr. N. Somorjit Singh, Anthropologist & Head of Office, Andaman and Nicobar Regional Centre, Port Blair.
1. People of India (1971-1975) :
Under this early project all the six tribes (Great Andamanese, Onge, Jarawa, Sentinelese, Shompen and Nicobarese) were studied. Other than that, the Early settlers (Ranchiwala, Karen, Burmese), Late settlers (Bengalese of East Pakistan, Madrasi, Telegu, Moppilahs, Malayali, Local born and Valmiki) are being studied time to time.
2. Tribes in Contemporary India :
Under this project Nicobarese of Central Nicobar were studied
3. Agrarian System and Agrarian Laws in Tribal India :
Under this project the Ranchi people (Oraon, Munda and Kheria) were studied emphasizing the agricultural situation practiced by the community people in the Island situation.
4. Anthropology of Place names and Personal names (1994-1998) :
Under this project the Nicobarese of all Nicobar group of Islands and the Nicobarese people were studied.
5. Ecology, Environment and Population in India (1998-2002) :
Under this project the Onge of Little Andaman were studied.
6. Religion, Shamanism and Mother Goddess Cult(1994-1998):
Under this project the Shamanic practice and the belief of malevolent and benevolent spirit of the Nicobarese were studied.
7. Transforming Onge: An Anthropological Survey of Aspirations and Inhibitions (1998-2002):
Under this project, the study was carried among the Onge of Little Andaman.
8. Boat Typology (1996-2001):
Under this project different types of canoes of Karen, Onge, Great Andamanese, Nicobarese and Shompen were studied in the light of technological part as well as the cultural attachment of the community people with the object were studied
9. Contact and Conflict - Ours with them and theirs with us (1997-2002):
Under this project the Jarawa population was studied in the light of contacting with non-tribal and non-Jarawa population.
10. Assessment of the Impact of Tsunami on the tribal people of Andaman & Nicobar Islands (2005):
Under this short-term project all the tribal people except Sentinelese were studied.
11. DNA-Polymorphism in Indian Population (2009-2012) :
Under this project Jarawa and Nicobarese population were studied.
12. Bio-Cultural Diversity, Environment and Sustainable Development (2012-2016) :
Under this project the Chowra village of northern Nicobar was studied along with Nicobarese population of that area.

Under this project Bhantu, an Ex- criminal tribe of mainland India, especially migrated from different areas of Uttar Pradesh were studied
