Hi, I’m Ann, a passionate mathematician with a keen interest in operations research, optimization, and computational mathematics, currently a first-year PhD student in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at Virginia Tech. My academic journey has deepened my love for mathematical disciplines, and I’m constantly seeking new challenges that push me to think critically and creatively. Whether it’s through research or applied projects, I’m driven by the idea of using operations research to make an impact.
When I’m not deep in equations, you’ll probably find me procrastinating, overthinking, or just generally confused about life.
Mathematics has always fascinated me—not just as a subject, but as a lens to understand the world. From solving intricate puzzles to exploring its real-world applications, I knew early on that I wanted to pursue it deeply. After earning my bachelor’s in Mathematics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, I did my master’s at NIT Calicut, where I was honored with the institute’s Gold Medal. Now, as a PhD student in ISE at Virginia Tech, I’m excited to keep turning abstract theory into impactful solutions.
I have quite a few hobbies that I have acquired over the years. My favorite escape is crafting videos for my YouTube channel, where I get to play storyteller. Off-camera, I’m either sprinting across a field playing some sport or wandering outdoors to clear my head. And when the energy dips? Impromptu dance breaks or a playlist of favorite tunes always reset my mind.
