Note: Development for DataStudio ceased in 2011 and DataStudio is now considered obsolete . Please consider one of our newer data acquisition and analysis software applications: our easy-to-use tablet-friendly SPARKvue or our feature-rich, desktop-friendly PASCO Capstone.

Data Studio is a data collection and software analysis. This software contains all sciences and a starter to advanced mode. It is considered to be the most award winning collection of data and analysis software. Data studio allows the users to watch the science unfold in front of them in real time with data collection, graphing, and analysis.

Data studio has an auto launch feature were the user is able to plug into a sensor which launches the studio. The studio also has passport sensors that are automatically identified, and it immediately presents a list of the experiment files that the user loaded into the sensor. Software is fully compatible with both Passport and Science Workshop probe ware. The software also has a display mode for beginning and advanced users. These modes include the Ezscreen mode for younger users or first time users using probe ware. Data Studio also provides robust data collection and capability analysis. Also included in the studio are multiple display formats; these formats include digits, graphs, meters, and tables. The more advanced software includes FFT, histogram and oscilloscope.

The main features and specs of this software include a video player and synchronization tool which allows the user to transform a movie into experimental data. A presentation graph that is a graph style that allows the movement of measurements and units outside of the graph. Predictive sketching that allows users to draw directly on the graph for prediction of two variables. Also, sense and control, a new function in calculator to help the user control output voltage, and the PASCO Relay which is plugged into a digital Adapter or Pass port.

Hey, As part of my diploma I'm required to conduct experiments and to collect some sensory data. At the Uni we're using the products of a company called "PASCO Scientific", which provides the experiment kits, sensors, the interfaces to which the sensors are plugged in to, and that connects to the PC for data collection. The data is collected and analyzed by a software developed by Pasco called "Data Studio", and there's a newer much better version called "Capstone". However, as usual, no Linux support. So I was wondering wherever there's a Linux application that's made for analyzing and collecting sensory data, that would be able to work with their interfaces, or that I'm doomed to run it either on wine or a VM.

Create and customize lab pages quickly and easily setting sample rates and tool palettes for each page individually. Sync your data collection with video or replay your data collection at slow, normal, or fast speed. Simple to use tables make it easy to rearrange and analyze data and the calibration wizard will aid in setting up experiments simply and accurately. And the Undo/Redo function makes it easy to try out new features.

This lab is a little different. It's purpose is to show how thePasco DataStudioTM software can be used to analyzeexperimental data graphically. Very soon, you will be using thissoftware to collect data (using sensors of various types) as well asanalyze it, so this laboratory exercise can serve as an introductionto part of the DataStudioTM software.

Calculating and graphing experimental data is vitally important, but it is generally time-consuming and tedious, too. (You might havenoticed that in the beginning labs of this course...) While it isimportant that you be able to make calculations from data and drawgraphs from data "by hand", the computer provides a powerful toolthat takes a great deal of the drudgery out of data analysis. In thislaboratory exercise, you will re-graph, using the computer, theexperimental data from the "Force vs.Stretch for a Spring" lab - just to see how it is done.

The acceleration graph is made by taking the tangential slope of the velocity vs. time curve at each point and plotting this value as a function of time. Data Studio is then used to calculate the mean of the acceleration vs. time curve where we find the value to be -9.2 m/s/s. The values obtained by the linear fit to the velocity vs. time fit from above and the mean of the selected data points of the acceleration vs. time graph are in general agreement and close to the accepted value of gravity of 9.8 m/s/s.

New Features of DataStudio:

- Video Player and Synchronization -- Play a movie or synch a movie to experimental data

- Presentation Style Graph -- Additional graph style that moves measurements and units outside the graph; ideal for publication of DataStudio graphs in educational journals

- Predictive Sketching -- Students can draw directly on the graph to predict a relationship between two variables. A predicted data set is created as they draw on the graph.

- Sense and Control Features -- DataStudio has new functions in its calculator to control the output voltage of the 750 interface, and to control a PASCO Relay plugged into a Digital Adapter on a PASPORT interface.

Powerful Displays/Analysis Tools -- Analyze data using a Graph, Table, Meter, Digits Display, FFT, Oscilloscope or Histogram. Change or Calculate Anytime, Anywhere -- No need to stop data collection to make a calculation, choose a curve fit or select data of interest

Connect the two 8 pin DIN cables and plug into the sound sensor. Connect the sensor to the Analog B slot of the Pasco Lab Interface. Place sound sensor on its stand in front of the speakers. Open the data studio file "S:/Demonstration files/Wave & Sound/w52_Interference.ds". Display the Data Studio software on the wall so the class can see.

v1.1 [Aug 4, 2013]

- Fixed bug that was causing the Curve Fit to fail with 'Not enough selected points' in certain circumstances

- Fixed bug that was causing inadvertant Time axis scale changes when using two Oscilloscopes on the same page.

- Fixed bug that causing certain Capstone files to take a very long time opening.

- Fixed bug that was sometimes causing large amounts of sensor data to not replay properly.

- Fixed bug that was causing the PASPORT Force Sensor to stop working after sampling for a few minutes.

- Zero sensor now zeroes the Altitude measurement along with the Acceleration measurements of a 3-axis Accelerometer/Altimiter (PS-2136).

- Fixed bug that was causing odd numbers to appear for sample intervals of 1 hour for the 750.

- Fixed bug that was causing progress dialog issues when doing a firmware upgrade of the 850.

- Changing a generic measurement type for a measurement does not change the units if the measurements have the same unit types.

- Added enhancement to show a frame around the Movie display if it is currently displaying an empty frame.

- Fixed crash when Undo/Redo the enabling a selection in the Graph.

- Provide support for new license key types.

I am grateful for this start, the community, and launch into our new business that has been thriving. We opened January 2019, grew out of our first space by June and reopened a larger location in October. Innovative Studios is a collaborative studio that is home to three businesses: The Dance Company Trinity, Once Upon a Dance, and Power-Barre, while donating rehearsal and office space to the non-profit The Pasco Performing Arts Council. It is a studio carrying the mission of LEARN|CREATE|SHARE|GROW for both our faculty and our students and we are proud to be creating 3 different shows a year to showcase the amazing artists and performers!
