Why Missions?

Doing missions has been a great passion of mine since before my first mission experience in 2014. The year before I had been to young to participate in my youth group's trip to Ecuador. Initially I had been quite upset about this, but God had another plan. When the team came back and were sharing their experiences with our congregation my heart was moved with compassion for the people in Ecuador and for our mission there. It was that day that I decided I would be going on the trip the following year. That day still holds significance for me as much of my life changed because of it. Long story short, I went the following year and again the year after that. Those two trips were my introduction into the mission field. 

My next opportunity came up on the Eve of a New Year (2017) when my best friend told me she would be leading a trip to Australia that upcoming June and July. In a moment of excitement I said I'd consider it. About two months later I was involved in training and preparations for a trip across the globe. Community turned out to be the theme of this mission. I taught on it, experienced it, and talked about it. An astounding 6 years later I now live with the beautiful community with which I fell in love on my first visit. They have supported me in moving across the world, marrying my best friend, and preparing for the birth of our first child. What an amazing joy it is to be surrounded by God's people.

My heart in missions is to increase the interactions and community within the body of the Church. I believe that community is essential to the heart of Christ and the expansion of the Gospel.
