Poetry Assignment

You will need to create a poem that represents yourself. This poem must be at least 18 stanzas and can be in free-form OR a structured poem.

This poem must answer these questions:

• "Who am I?"
• "What am I passionate about?"

The poem must include TWO metaphors.

This poem is due by next Friday.

Narrative Reading

You will need to finish reading the story HATCHET by Gary Paulson. After you have finished the reading, you must answer these questions:

• How can a narrative work tell a story?
• How did this narrative allow Gary Paulson to tell Brain's story?
• What does theme mean and how does it affect the plot, narrative, and setting of a story?
• How does the theme of Hatchet affect how you read the book?
• Why is structured order important?

This is due by Friday. We have had in-class reading time where you should be finished with the book, but if you have missed class, you have your home copy of the book that you can use to help you finish reading. If extra time or help is needed, please contact me.
