My name is Anne, but I go by Annie. I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona with my two brothers and moved just outside of Toledo, Ohio for high school. I attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona and graduated in 2010 with my Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and a minor in Spanish. Just two years later in 2012, I followed a desire for culture and adventure to New Orleans, Louisiana and became a Spanish teacher at Belle Chasse Academy on the NAS-JRB. In 2016, I was presented with an offer I could not refuse to teach English for six months at the International School of Knowledge just outside of UNESCO World Heritage Site Antigua, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala. When my six month Central American experience ended in 2017, I flew back to my home state, Arizona, where I reprised my role as a Spanish teacher in Maricopa, Arizona. I made the decision to switch careers in 2020 after the pandemic hit and I could really think about a change. While in quarantine, I decided to enroll in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Grand Canyon University and started a journey that leads me to the present. I graduated on July 10th, 2024 with a 4.0 GPA after three years of graduate courses and having completed a rigorous year long internship treating serious mental illness. Before graduating, I passed the NCE with a score of 122 and received my lower-level license within two months. My long-term goal is to complete a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. I currently still live in Maricopa, Arizona with my husband, stepson, and French bulldog. I enjoy shopping, reading, walking, self-care, personal development, and professional development.
