Since 2023 - Lead Livestock Specialist - International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Rome
1) Lead the technical support to and supervision of IFAD’s portfolio on livestock (about USB 1Bn current investments in over 15 countries)
2) Lead and manage a team of decentralised regional and global professionals specialised in livestock development, fisheries and aquaculture and provide intellectual leadership guidance and supervision regarding IFAD corporate requirements and quality control
3) Lead IFAD knowledge, strategies, policies, tools, guidelines and databases on livestock and pastoral systems development, including the production of technical products such as policy briefs, analysis, reports and studies, and support IFAD senior management for their participation in high-level fora with policy implications
4) Develop and maintain a network of strategic partnerships to advance IFAD's mandate on inclusive and sustainable rural transformation in the global debate and represent IFAD in high level events
2017-2023 - Livestock development officer - Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Rome
1) Lead a program of work for technical assistance to livestock development projects and investments for climate change adaptation and mitigation in 15+ countries in Sub-Saharan Africa (Mauritania, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, Cameroon, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Lesotho), Central and South Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Bangladesh) and Latin America (Ecuador, Paraguay) with World Bank, IFAD the International Financing Corporation and the Green Climate Fund.
2) Lead the development and implementation of tools for assessing sustainability in agriculture, and build capacity of partners:
-the Global Livestock Environmental Assessment Model-interactive GLEAM-i applied in 35+ countries to assess climate change adaptation and mitigation options
- the Tool for Agroecology Performance Evaluation (TAPE), a multi-criteria tool developed in partnership with 6 different divisions in FAO and 50+ external partners, applied in 30+ countries and including support of projects funded by the Global Environment Facility.
- the Feed Balance Sheet (FBS) for improved resilience of pastoralist and agro-pastoralist systems in the Sahel, applied in 7 countries, specific to drylands
3) Conduct and lead research on livestock development, management of natural resources, climate change, social and economic sustainability of food systems and agroecology. Disseminate results in scientific publications, reports and social media.
4) Mobilize resources from bilateral and multilateral donors and establish partnerships with national and international research and development organisations including World Bank, IFAD, LRI, Agrhymet, CIRDES.
5) Manage and lead a multi-disciplinary team of seven long-term international consultants (agronomists, veterinarian, ecologist, animal scientist, agroecologist and IT specialist) based in 5 different countries: Responsibility: mobilize resources, manage contracts, conduct appraisals and support career development
