I am a doctoral student pursuing a program in Transformative Learning in the Global Community through Webster University. My research interests center around high impact experiential learning, particularly in a global context.
Based on years of experience working with personal and professional development strategies, I'm interested in the transformative learning moments that we all experience, and the stories used to shape and express them. Narrative identity construction can be a powerful educational tool.
As a woman and mother, I'm also intersted in the stories of women and how we teach the next generation that diversity & equality are not a given, instead they must be continually affirmed.
I currently serves as Director, Academic Program Administration for the Walker School of Business & Technology at Webster University, with responsibility for assessment & accreditation, academic support systems, student professional development, and communications. I have held several roles within the Walker School, and I am particularly interested in helping faculty build intentional, meaningful and relevant learning opportunities for students. Most recently this has included work on a revised MBA program, with enhanced faculty selection and training processes, course development, and program logistics.
I have extensive experience in building supplemental learning opportunities for students, including Walker EDGE as a professional development center, Global Hybrid courses which incorporate onsite international experiential learning, as well as a unique, culturally immersive and academically rigorous global MBA program.
I am also well versed in higher education accreditation standards, leading the project team to reaffirm ACBSP accreditation in 2018, working closely with faculty to pursue CAHME accreditation, and striving to upgrade program assessment efforts within the Walker School.
Prior to joining Webster, I worked in Human Resources at Bunge North America where I managed employee relations for the corporate office and the Latin America division, as well as global employee relocation services. In this role, I was certified as a Global HR professional (GPHR).
I holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Communication from Saint Louis University and a master’s degree in Contemporary Sociology from the University of York in the UK where I expanded my love of all things travel related. I am currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education in Transformative Learning in the Global Community at Webster University, with a particular focus on high impact, global experiential learning opportunities and the use of narrative as a learning methodology.
I also love all things coffee. When I'm not spending time with my family, reading, or writing fiction, you can find me exploring local coffee shops and cafes. I'm always happy to meet and discuss theories, education, and share stories.
