PERSONAL STATEMENT
——
With the continuous development of tourism and people's demand for ecological cities, the roads formed by railroads in the past have been unable to withstand the changes in urban form and layout brought about by the development of the times, and the original railway tracks were eventually abandoned and forgotten.
More and more abandoned railroads have become the grey areas of the city. Once an essential urban bloodline, they occupy a narrow strip of land and play an abandoned role, affecting the city's development. Other ruins give people a different feeling, but trains and buildings have one thing in common: they carry stories about people. The wheel of history rolls by; the green train is a rut pressed by history, a microcosm of the story of the times and the memory of a generation. There is the witness of people's good life.
The object of my concern is the rust produced by the peeling iron of the train. After the paint of the green train peels off, rust is made after experiencing the oxidation of climate and time. The rust is in a natural state, representing the traces of time, slowly showing the paths of alterations. With the shedding of the iron, rust is produced, meaning the end of the "industrial history" of the area. The rust made is the polishing of the old time by modern society, forming the traces of the years.
Just like the people in the area, the new people who moved in slowly replaced the people who witnessed this history; just like the rust on the train, the memory of the past is constantly impacted by new things and is forgotten continuously, but the account should not be like this. Through the renovation of the train, I hope to let people in the region know more about this history and to comfort the "old people" who have experienced this history. Through the renovation, let the old and new culture "reconciliation", the formation of historical heritage and succession, rather than replacement.
