The history of Classical music has been a love of mine since I was a tiny person, listening to the Great Musicians Classical Record Collection that my father added to each week, filing each new LP record away to eventually end up as a massive collection for me to go back to, year after year. Each record came with a foldout of the composer, style, genre, and some history around the recording involved. I have never lost the love that this experience brought into my life. In fact, I still have the whole collection here in my lounge room! :)
As a member of this class, I will take you on a wonderful unforgettable journey. We will listen to the Great works, and composers, making our way through various genres and eras, learning what to listen for, and enjoying the music from various angles. From Classical to Romantic, from Bach to Beethoven, from Wagner to contemporary composers: sometimes we will follow along with the score, sometimes with a conductor's baton, but always with the joy of music. You are welcome to put in a request or suggestion for the next term's subject matter!
Class runs for 60 minutes, with time afterwards for a cuppa & chat. Costs are $25 per class, and fees are payable at the beginning of term, or weekly by arrangement. All classes run in conjunction with school terms. First lessons are free.
