Dr. Venu Gopal Madhav Annamdas is a distinguished Senior Research Scientist, Program Manager, and Principal Investigator with over 20 years of expertise spanning Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), Sensors, Actuators, Piezoelectrics, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Smart Materials, Haptics and User Experience (UX) Design.
Demonstrating an impressive career trajectory, Dr. Venu has contributed significantly to research and development (R&D) for 21 years, teaching for several years, attending invited lectures, and working in the industry for 3 years, gaining valuable experience across India, Singapore, and the United States.
Dr. Venu earned a Ph.D. in Piezoelectric Structural Health Monitoring from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, a Master of Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and a MicroMasters from the Rochester Institute of Technology, USA. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI), USA. This robust academic foundation is complemented by his successful contributions to both research and industry.
A prolific innovator, Dr. Venu holds patents in sensor attachment and groundbreaking cover lens technology for vehicle displays. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed journal papers and contributed to over 35 conference proceedings, book chapters, and books. Notably, one of his journal papers was among the most downloaded articles of the Year 2013 in Sage Journals.
Dr. Venu also served as Session Chair at the 2009 SPIE Conference in San Diego, California. He chaired Session 11: Modeling and Design of Smart Systems during the Sensors and Smart Structures Technologies for Civil, Mechanical, and Aerospace Systems conference (March 10, 2009). The proceedings were published in SPIE Volume 7292 (March 8–12, 2009).
As a recognized thought leader, Dr. Venu authored an editorial titled "Robotic AI-Driven Communication Modules for Enhanced Piezo-Metamaterial Sensing and Structural Health Monitoring" in the Journal of Materials Applied Science (2024).
Dr. Venu was recently invited to deliver a lecture at IIT Delhi's Indian Structural Health Monitoring Society (ISHMS).
