Reflection: During this session, I learned the value of a tripod, and the difference between Auto and Auto/Manual focus. I had left my tripod at work and was thus sharing one, and it was in fact very difficult to get clear images with out it, as we entered lower light conditions. I also switched to my prime lens which has a slightly different focus settings, and I found it harder to use the focus (both manual and auto) at night.
My favorite images are the "closeup" and "light" ones. I like that I was able to focus on the strands of spider web (after many tries) in the closeup, and the way the ground lights illuminated each section of the leaves. There is a lot of contrast in that image, between the shadowy out of focus leaves and the bright, sharp ones that draws me in. The same lights also created the interesting shadows for the light picture, creating a cool marble-like texture.
I did not make huge changes with lightroom, but did play around with the white/black levels and the shadow/highlight levels for each picture. I also straightened out the "depth" picture, which worked out nicely.
