Debate
English
EU & Me
Film Literacy
The debate we all participated in was called “Human dignity in the light of European migrant crisis”.
It was the first debate I ever took part in. As part of the opposition group I wasn’t sure what to expect or how a debate should work. I went along with the instructions and tried my best. First I thought it had a really complicated concept, but soon I realised that we just misunderstood the assignment. It was very awkward. That’s why I can´t really talk about what I learned or what I liked the most about it.
Even if our debate wasn’t a success I had fun putting it together with the group. So it was still worth it.
To overcome the language barrier, while we were in Spain we all spoke English for the most part. This resulted in a lot of funny situation. I think that after a weak of constantly speaking and listening to English, all of our skills improved a lot.
Still ,before flying to Spain we watched the movie “Wonder” to practice. The exercise to the movie was to write a review. It had to include the basic information of the movie, the characters and actors and also what we liked and disliked about it.
The topic of the EU wasn’t brought up much this year. And unfortunately I won´t be here next year when we do talk about it.
