Resource Class Syllabus
Welcome
Welcome to the Resource Classroom! I am excited to work with your child this school year. My goal is to provide individualized instruction and support that helps every student build confidence, develop academic skills, and achieve success. I look forward to partnering with you throughout the year to support your child's growth.
Overview of Resource Services
Students in the Resource Program receive individualized support designed to help them succeed in the general education classroom. Each student has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that is developed collaboratively with families and the school team. The IEP outlines each student's unique strengths, learning goals, accommodations, specialized instruction, and support services to help them make meaningful academic and personal progress.
Services may be provided through direct or indirect support, depending on each student's IEP.
Direct Services: Students receive specialized instruction in the resource classroom for the amount of time specified in their IEP. Instruction focuses on individual IEP goals, strengthening academic skills, re-teaching classroom concepts, and providing accommodations to support learning.
Indirect Services: Students are supported through consultation and monitoring. The resource teacher collaborates with classroom teachers, reviews student progress, monitors accommodations, communicates with families, and participates with the IEP team to ensure students are successful in the general education classroom.
Parent Communication
Parents will receive updates on their child's progress toward IEP goals every nine weeks. An annual IEP meeting will also be scheduled to review progress, discuss goals, and plan services for the coming year.
Student Expectations
Students are expected to:
Come to class ready to learn.
Follow classroom and school expectations.
Show respect to classmates, teachers, and materials.
Participate and do their best.
Use kind words and actions.
Ask for help when needed.
Students who demonstrate positive behavior, effort, and responsibility will receive encouragement and classroom rewards.
Materials Needed
Students do not need to bring any special materials to the resource classroom. All instructional materials and supplies will be provided.
Our Goal
Together, we will create a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment where every student feels valued, respected, and encouraged to succeed. Our goal is to empower each child to reach their full potential while fostering a love of learning, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging both inside and outside the classroom.
