Here are some pictures from the behind-the-scenes at natural history collections. During my masters, I measured over 2 thousand primate skulls. Most of the time, the specimens of galagos and lorises were filled under an outdated taxonomy that does not reflect the phylogenetic relationship between species. In fact, as I studied the taxonomy and systematics of galagos and lorises, I realized that nocturnal primates have been entirely neglected in phylogenetic research, and very little was known about the actual species diversity in these groups. After my masters, I returned to the museum cabinets, but this time to get DNA from the museum specimens and study species diversity in the Galagos (click in the tab above to learn more about them).
When I am not working I like to draw and photograph birds. Here are some of my favorite bird drawings. I like to use mixed media, but water color pencil is one of my favorite tools.
It's unusual to find Galagos in our everyday lives, so I started a small collection. Please send me more references if you see something!
