Welcome!

I am a research specialist in the Department of Computer Science at the AI Institute, University of South Carolina. I am working under the supervision of Prof. Amit Sheth. My research focuses on building machine-learning models for automatic fact verification (Published work at top AI conferences like ACL, EMNLP, and AAAI).  My work on fact verification was recently covered by Stanford’s NLP group over Twitter.

A part of my work is to use NLP techniques on social media data to understand human behavior. I have explored a research direction to understand why people lie, what they gain from such lies, and how those lies impact society, how deception links to propaganda techniques. I also work under the guidance of Dr. Kokil Jaidka to explore emotional changes around events like Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter.

I have worked as a research scientist with a health tech startup called Shaip AI in the past. Before this, I worked as an NLP Engineer at the research and development ML team of Cactus Communications and as a Data Scientist with a US-based InsurTech Company Verisk Analytics after completing my post-graduation in AI&ML. Before my post-graduation, I worked with early-stage Edtech and fintech startups in the data science and analytics domain.

I have consulted for universities and startups in the past and I am open to similar opportunities. l am starting my graduate studies at MIT from Aug 2024.
