During the last few months of my BS-MS course at IISER, I was tensed, anxious and stressed. After getting all of my (around 20) PhD Applications rejected, I was graced with two opportunities to still be involved in Research: Project Associate / PhD Position at IISER TVM or Project Associate (JRF) at IIT Kanpur. The project offered by IISER TVM aligned more with my research done during my master's thesis (on orbifold guts), however, the thought of joining IIT Kanpur made me feel uncomfortable; to face new challenges, to get used to a new topic of research, to keep up the expectations demanded from the prestigious institute; these things made me feel overwhelmed, and that is exactly why I decided to get out of my comfort-zone and join IIT Kanpur, with the aim of learning and understanding more of Physics Beyond the Standard Model, with the excitement of potentially learning and producing some new results. However, more often than not, things do not work the way we plan.
I landed on IIT Kanpur's enormous campus on 8th August 2024 along with my father. Even though the rainy weather and the greenery seemed familiar, good quality facilities and a huge population of students situated on a vast area of land were new to me. The first week went by on me sorting out all the administrative work, acquiring a cycle, and getting used to the new room (which was temporary) at Hall-12. Sooner than later, I began to participate in the Football Practice Sessions with IIT-K's football team. It was at this time, I was introduced to the "Electroweak Phase Transition" and "Axions" by my project supervisor. Even with seemingly sorted out and a purposeful life with me having the opportunity to work on something which I love, be part of the sport which I love, I still was not getting used to the new life at IIT, and I was missing the place which I admired so much.

A glimpse of the beautiful campus of ICTS-TIFR Bangalore. I got the opportunity to attend the
"Hearing Beyond the Standard Model through Cosmic Sources such as Gravitational Waves" conference-workshop. It was truly a great experience which gave me more insight and inspirations towards my own research directions.
One of the things that surprises me most is that I always end up meeting amazing people whom I could rely upon and have fun with. I was again fortunate enough at the IIT-K, where I met some amazing people; each of them having their unique characteristics, dealing with their own lives silently fighting their struggles (and sometimes relying upon each other), working hard on their goals, and trying their best to live this life fully. I would learn a lot from them, rely upon them whenever in trouble, and regularly have walks with them discussing a wide range of topics (from fiction to science to whatnot). I was never afraid to be what I truly am in front of them. I could write a lot for each of my friends from IIT-K, but for the time being, I am just grateful to all of them who made me feel comfortable there.
