I am an ecologist working in human-dominated landscapes, specializing in landscape ecology, remote sensing, and community modeling. 

My research examines the aquatic dimensions of agricultural intensification — how different routes to increased food production (irrigation, nutrient inputs, production density, water-control infrastructure, aquaculture) transform water quantity, quality, flow regimes, and aquatic habitat, and how those changes propagate through hydrological networks to freshwater biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. 

During my PhD at the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University, I investigated how hydrological changes from irrigation canals influence waterbird communities in community-managed wetlands. I combined field observations, species distribution modeling, and remote sensing techniques to understand seasonal patterns in waterbird diversity and wetland habitat dynamics. My work sheds light on the ecological impacts of managed water availability in semi-arid agricultural landscapes, informing conservation strategies for wetland-dependent bird species. 

I also hold a Masters in Applied Ecology, and M.Sc in Information Systems and Biological Sciences. Prior to my time at Duke, I worked at the Wildlife Trust of India.
