Ti’s the season for fun holiday cheer, and spending time with your 4H troop! Last year we were invited to a really fun holiday event! This year we are back at it again! gingerbread lane is a fun light show circle you can drive through, and see the story of the famous gingerbread man unfold! Cars come in through one side and out the other. As our job there we are waving and singing Christmas carols to let the Christmas spirit shine in us and everyone around.
A really cool thing about gingerbread lane is you can donate money and food when you leave. But we know better than to be Grinch's, so we donate the money and food to the Food Bank of Iowa. In my opinion, that is really cool. A part of being in 4H is being a good citizen and helping your community. Plus that is also just being a really good person.
Our 4H troop the Ankeny Trailblazers got two nights' to help out at gingerbread lane. Half of us went one night and the other half another night. I went the first night and I had a blast! Everyone had a smile on their face and had the Christmas spirit inside of them. Just the two nights we were there we raised $379.63 and six large bags of food. That is amazing. When people come together and help their community we can all accomplish great things if we work together.
