outreach & media

I enjoy talking about and explaining astronomy to the general public, and have experience doing this for various age groups (e.g. at schools, science outreach centres and university outreach events). Some examples on YouTube:

• Open evening talk at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge

• Mexborough & Swinton Astronomical Society Webinar (similar, slightly extended)

• Haus der Astronomie public talk (German)

• Interview on the Polymath World Youtube Channel

Other online content:

• Royal Astronomical Society press release and subsequent YouTube coverage on my "PIGS" project

• Example conference talks and seminars (academic talks, not aimed at the general public) on YouTube:

  • Contributed talk at the Institute of Astronomy's 50th birthday conference on "The ancient heart of the Milky Way"

  • Seminar at the Brazilian National Observatory

I am interested in thinking about the relationship between science and Christianity. I sometimes give talks on this topic, typically at events organised by student groups or churches. An interview with me on this topic has been published here.
