Welcome to my website! I am a Post-doctoral researcher at the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER).
I recently defended my PhD in Economics at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. I specialize in behavioral development economics at the intersection of gender, labour, and political economy. My research spans experimental methods and large-scale survey data to understand how social norms and institutional contexts influence economic behavior. With a grounding in applied microeconomic theory, I investigate how cultural mental models, social norms, and discrimination affect economic decision-making and outcomes. Passionate about synthesizing and leveraging innovative research methods, I thrive on interdisciplinary collaboration!
Currently, I am developing my PhD chapters on skin colour salience and its impact on productivity and individual experiences of discrimination into full-blown papers. I am also working on RCTs in Kenya and Nigeria to evaluate the impact of entertainment media on social and health outcomes as part of World Bank DIME's Project Edutainment. In another project, I look at the effect of social norms on the corruption behaviour of individuals, deploying lab experiments.
