What is Literature? (After MA)

Literature encompasses written works. It is considered to have artistic or intellectual value. It includes various genres such as fiction - novels, short stories, plays, poetry, and non-fiction - essays, biographies, memoirs. Literature gave the various logical ideas, deeper understanding and appreciation of literature, its historical contexts, critical theories, and analytical approaches. Typically, Literature equips students with a profound understanding of literary works, critical theories, and research methodologies, preparing them for careers in academia, publishing, journalism, or any field that values advanced communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

"Literature is where I go to explore the highest and lowest places in human society and in the human spirit,

where I hope to find not absolute truth but the truth of the tale, of the imagination and of the heart."

                                                                                           - Salman Rushdie

It highlights how literature is presented as a journey or a place for exploration. It is not just something to be read, but a world to be entered. Literature allows us to delve into the entire spectrum of human experience. It takes us to the peaks of achievement and the depths of despair, showing us the full range of what it means to be human. Rushdie acknowledges that literature doesn't necessarily offer definitive answers or a single, objective truth. Instead, literature provides a deeper "truth" – the truth of a story, the truth of our emotions, and the truth of how we imagine the world.
