I grew up in Skowhegan, Maine. I graduated from Skowhegan Area High School.
My father is Guy J. Williams, who retired in 2000 from Skowhegan Savings Bank. I am the youngest of five children, with four older brothers: Andy, who has retired from corporate America to become an angel investor; Larry, a music teacher at Poland High School in Maine and leader of the Larry Williams Band; Gary, a faculty member at Crafton Hills College in California; and Patrick, who works for the State of Maine in their Office of Information Technology. We lost our dear mother, Connie, to breast cancer in 2004, and our father Joe, passed away in 2021. The Joe and Connie Williams Scholarship has been established as Skowhegan Area High School in their honor.
I live in Pittsburgh with my husband, David Woolley, and my three sons. The irony in the fact that I grew up with four brothers and have three sons, with no sisters or daughters, while I study the benefits of having more women for collective intelligence, is not missed ;-)
