The two years (or rather 7 months, thanks to COVID) in CMI have etched numerous lifelong memories - the enthusiastic professors; the extremely efficient administration; the amazing set of peers; the night-long math discussions; cheese Maggi and cold coffee in the night canteen at 01:30 AM; the 4:00 AM excursions to Favourite Spot; the birthday/Diwali/Holi/Durga Puja celebrations; the trips to Marina and Vivira mall; and so many more!
Talking about life in CMI is incomplete without mentioning Tessellate, the annual college festival. As a welcome reprieve to the 400-odd of us from the academic setting, the 3-day event is filled with concerts, FIFA nights, Major Chandrakant Nair's quizzes, and most importantly, finger-licking good food! Interested to know more? Here you go!
In addition, on 30 December 2020, the year was bid adieu with an online CMI Music Fest in which students, alumni, and staff (both academic and non-academic) showcased their talents in various art forms like music and poetry. What was initially presumed to be a 2-hour event extended to a very memorable 4 hours, thanks to the enthusiastic participation by the entire CMI family - especially the freshers, who haven't set foot on the campus yet!
And finally, some pictures of "home":
Tessellate is the brainchild of students at CMI that develops a further interest in mathematics while also serving as a fun reprieve for students to break from their rut, and flex their creative and competitive muscles. It all started when the student body of a small research institute tessellated seemingly unrelated cultural and academic events in a seamless manner.
Tessellate is a 3-day fest with concerts, cubing competitions conducted by the World Cube Association, a state-level Chess tournament, talks by eminent people from all walks of life, quizzes, lip-smacking good food, and many more fun-filled events!
STEMS, a part of our college fest Tessellate, is a nationwide contest in Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science, which gives students an opportunity to show off their conceptual understanding, win exciting prizes, and attend sessions with world-renowned mathematicians and scientists. The exam is one-of-its-kind as one can attempt it from anywhere and make use of books and online resources.
