AnimeTrace ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension that automatically tracks anime you watch on streaming websites. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
## Data we collect and store locally
The Extension stores the following on your device using Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local):
- Anime library (show titles, seasons, episodes watched, streaming sites)
- Watch history (titles, episodes, URLs, timestamps)
- Settings (tracking on/off, OpenRouter API key, AI model preference)
This data stays on your device. We do not operate a server that stores your watch history.
## Data sent to third parties
When you watch video on a supported website, the Extension may send page information to OpenRouter (https://openrouter.ai) for AI classification, including:
- Page title and heading
- URL and website hostname
- Detected season/episode information when available
These requests use your own OpenRouter API key, which you provide in Settings. OpenRouter's privacy policy applies to data they receive: https://openrouter.ai/privacy
We do not sell your data.
## What we do not collect
AnimeTrace does not collect your name, email address, payment information, location, browsing history outside of tracked anime sessions, keystrokes, or personal communications.
## Permissions
- storage: Save your library, history, and settings locally
- tabs: Open the dashboard and OpenRouter setup page when you click links
- Content script: Detect video playback and read page titles on sites where you watch anime
- openrouter.ai: Send classification requests using your API key
## Your choices
You can pause tracking in the popup, delete individual shows from the library, export your data as JSON, or clear all data in Settings. Uninstalling the Extension removes locally stored data.
## Children's privacy
AnimeTrace is not directed at children under 13.
