Welcome to AnimeList ("we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and disclosed when you use our mobile application AnimeList (the "App"), available on Android and iOS.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Please read this policy carefully to understand our practices.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
AnimeList does not require you to create an account. We do not collect, store, or transmit:
Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
Login credentials
Payment information
Location data
Contacts or any data from other apps on your device
Your personal anime list, episode progress, and ratings are stored exclusively on your device using local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible by us or any third party.
3. Information Collected Automatically
3.1 Advertising Data (Google AdMob)
AnimeList displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service operated by Google LLC. To serve ads, Google AdMob may automatically collect:
Device advertising identifiers (Android Advertising ID / Apple IDFA)
Device type, operating system, and version
IP address (used to infer general geographic region)
App usage and interaction data related to ad delivery
Important: AnimeList is configured to request non-personalized ads only. This means AdMob serves ads without building a personal profile based on your browsing history across other apps and websites.

Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
iOS: Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising → Turn off Personalized Ads
3.2 App Update Check
When the app launches, it makes a single request to a configuration file hosted on GitHub to check whether a newer version of AnimeList is available. This request contains no personal information — it is a standard HTTPS GET request that retrieves a small JSON file. GitHub may log the request as part of their standard server operations. 4. Third-Party Services
AnimeList integrates with the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy, which governs any data they may collect.

When you tap "Watch Trailer" or a streaming platform link, you are redirected outside of AnimeList. We have no control over the data practices of those external services once you leave the app.
5. Local Data Storage
All data you create within AnimeList — your anime list, watching status, episode progress, and personal ratings — is stored locally on your device using secure on-device storage (MMKV). This data:
Never leaves your device
Is not backed up to our servers (we have no servers)
Is not shared with any third party
Will be permanently deleted if you uninstall the app
6. Children's Privacy
AnimeList is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take immediate steps to delete such information.
AnimeList is configured to serve non-personalized ads only, which helps ensure compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations.
7. Data Security
Since AnimeList does not collect or store personal data on external servers, the risk of a data breach affecting your personal information through our app is minimal. Advertising data collected by Google AdMob is subject to Google's own security practices and policies.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your country of residence, you may have the following rights regarding your data:
Right to access — Know what data is held about you
Right to deletion — Request deletion of your data
Right to opt out — Opt out of personalized advertising (see Section 3.1)
For data held by Google AdMob, you must contact Google directly or use the in-device opt-out options described in Section 3.1. Since we do not collect personal data ourselves, we are unable to fulfil data access or deletion requests for information we do not hold.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
