It is! However, one of our goals is to continue developing and providing a support group that can be shared with and implemented by various animal shelters/rescue organizations to help address compassion fatigue, stress, burnout, and resilience within this community. To do so, we want to ensure that what we offer has proven benefits for people. Your help here is vital in helping us refine and improve the group for the future, and to be able to secure additional funding to continue offering these groups at no cost; however, your participation in the research portion of this group is voluntary, and you can choose to quit at any time.Â
If you were added to a waitlist in January/February, you were asked to complete an online assessment that will include some of your demographic information, as well as explore your current experiences around compassion fatigue, burnout, stress, and resilience. Then, about 1-2 weeks before your group is scheduled to start, you will be asked to complete a shorter online assessment.
If you signed up to join after February, you will be asked to complete our initial online assessment within a week of starting the group.
After the final group meeting, you will be asked to complete an additional online assessment, including the same questions as the previous ones, but also asking for your input on the experiences with the group itself.
No! All information collected through the surveys will be kept confidential. The only person with access to your survey information is Dr. Neli Morris, who is not running any of the groups. Your identifying information will only be used if Neli needs to contact you to remind you about completing the surveys and to ensure that we receive responses from all participants.
Absolutely not! The groups will not be recorded, and no information shared within the groups will be used in the research or other publications. However, we as facilitators will be meeting on a regular basis to touch base on how the groups are going and discuss general experiences and feedback that may need to be taken into consideration for running future groups.
